AI is everywhere right now.

It is in headlines, in boardrooms, in sales meetings, and in the quiet corners of someone’s browser while they draft an email. Some leaders are racing toward it. Others are hesitating. Most are somewhere in the middle, trying to figure out how to use it responsibly without getting left behind.

That tension is exactly why my latest conversation with Hunter Jensen matters.

Then expand.

Alongside strategy comes guardrails. An AI policy that defines what tools are approved, what data can be used, what must remain private, and where human review is required. Hunter emphasizes that governance should not be a document that sits quietly in a handbook. It needs to be discussed. Explained. Understood. Because whether leaders formalize it or not, AI adoption is already happening inside their organizations.

One of the most practical insights Hunter shares is that AI can help build the very policies meant to govern it. His advice is clear. Yes, use it. But never without a human in the loop. Treat large language models like brilliant assistants who know nothing about your business until you give them context. Ask them to draft. Then ask them what is missing. Ask them to critique the gaps. Refine. Edit. Review with legal counsel when appropriate. Use the speed of AI without surrendering judgment.
